Alonso Pérez-Kakabadse
Managing Director
Alonso combines hands-on policymaking experience during financial crises with a proven track record of generating alpha in global markets.
As Vice Minister of the Economy of Ecuador and Economic Advisor to the President, he played a pivotal role in the stabilization and recovery of his country’s economy following the 1999 economic collapse, helping to lead Ecuador through its financial crisis by enacting a program of dollarization, a highly controversial but ultimately successful endeavor.
His career spans over 18 years in financial markets, including 11 years as a hedge-fund portfolio manager and 5 years as a macro strategist and portfolio advisor, with tenure at leading firms such as UBP, Wellington, Caxton, SAC, and Moore Capital, where he focused primarily on emerging markets and specialized in multi-asset strategies across FX, local rates, and credit.
He holds a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics.
